New Jersey Association for Biomedical Research Summer High School
 Fellowship Program

It’s never too early to capture the attention of future scientists, and to encourage young people to explore the process ...
and the possibilities... of biomedical research.

The Class of 2007 Fellows with Dr. Rita Samuel, Medical Director, USCDMA CVM,

Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp., who explained about clinical trials.

NJABR established the Fellowship Program not only for the extraordinary learning experience and exposure it offers students, but also for New Jersey and the global research facilities located here.  The intense experience is enriched by the generous support of various institutions from academia and industry that host these stimulating visits as well as the time so many people take to share information and inspiration with the Fellows. It is NJABR’s goal to encourage the best and brightest science students to pursue their education and, ultimately, their careers in New Jersey, a state rich with opportunities for biomedical research.

Selected through a vigorous application process open to high school juniors interested in medicine and the life sciences, students in the Fellowship Program meet a diversity of scientists engaged in different aspects of the discovery process. Over a two-week period, these dedicated scientists freely share career information along with insights into the specific aspects of the research process. Students also address ethical issues arising from the rapid advance of science and technology and learn about the laws and regulations in place to protect both human and animal subjects.
