My First FriendBy Korey InglinGrade 8, Holland Township School When I came to earth, My first friend was there. With 4 legs and 2 green eyes, She had everything to share. When I was very young, I grew with my friend, Our relationship was like a smooth fruit blend. Imagine each entity not being able to speak, But developing a relationship that was farthest from weak. Loving her so much, It was not hard to tell, My friend and I were buddies, O so wonderfully well. We played and we slept day after day, She always protected me, What can I say? She was my one and only friend. As her tail whirled in the sun, Things began to start going wrong, Whenever she played and tried to run, She would stumble and wonder what she'd just done. It was sad to see, the confusion and wonder, For my first friend, things became a blunder, She was getting sick, weak and sad and older, I picked her up in my arms as my days grew colder. My mom was sad, full of strife, As this animal was with her for half of her life. Then came the day, when we had to say goodbye, It was difficult to see her parting, Because of the tears in our eyes. Finally, my first friend had come to a rest, I was sad but I knew I had spent my time with the best. © 1999-2005 New Jersey Association for Biomedical Research 1477 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083 Ph: (908) 964-9449 Fax: (908) 964-9144 info@njabr.org |
